Mystery Ranch Street Fighter in Black

MR Black SF

Too funny.  Clearly, Mystery Ranch fans are getting impatient with the U.S. release date for the Street Fighter in Black.  It’s already available overseas and the original projected date was June and now it’s slipped to August.  Hopefully it won’t be much longer.  The natives are getting restless (and creative with their angst).

I don’t get this, but I have seen it before. Wasn’t the ASAP available in Japan before the US? Isn’t MR an American company? I guess I fail to see why they make some of their stuff available overseas first.

    • Blaine B. says:

They are an American company. I’ve never seen an explanation why they don’t offer some of the Asian market stuff manufactured in PI here. They do in some cases already. Why they don’t expand that is beyond me.

Pretty funny post regardless of their odd marketing.

I’m also wondering whether MR bought too much woodland camo or if these packs just resurfaced in a long-forgotten shipping container.

As I’ve noted before, I have a PI-made ASAP which is the same MR quality as my 3DAP (gone) and Sweet Pea but there is a strong bag-forum bias against their off US-shore goods. One UK buyer went so far as returning his PI bags and demanding the USA produced bags as replacements. Methinks he doth protest too much…

I’ve got one in black. Did not realise they had such a huge demand.

I just checked this bag out on their website and its $149…wonder why there was a price jump.

    • Blaine B. says:

BCB – The screenshot was a lark. Whoever created it changed the price. I doubt the Streetfighter has ever been sold at that price by Mystery Ranch. 😉

  5. AA says:

Cannot fathom why someone in the UK would demand US made goods over PI, especially given the cost of shipping to the UK.

Just got a Streerfighter to try. It’s going back, too small, no clamshell opening and looks like I’m carrying my kids bag.

Nicely made, but can’t compare to ASAP.

    • Blaine B. says:

Alan, that’s been my issue with the majority of MR’s stuff in general. Their urban line consists mostly of small bags, which I can only assume is targeted mostly to the Asian market. I’m even struggling a bit with the 3DAP due to the length of the pack (again, only 18 inches) coupled with harness strap length. The overall adjustability of the Futura harness makes up for some of that but it’s still not fitting like it should, which is troubling considering the cost of the pack. To MR’s credit, they offered to take a look but I haven’t had time to engage. All they can do is recommend a longer harness which probably won’t completely address the issue. Frustrating.
