If you haven’t had a chance to pickup a copy of Recoil Magazine then you’re really missing out. The editors of Recoil call themselves a “firearms lifestyle publication dedicated to the modern shooting enthusiast”. While that’s certainly true, over time Recoil has proven itself to be a little more versatile than that.
In the current issue, aside from a sh*tload of featured gear, there’s a five pager on how to build a Grab and Go Bag on a Budget, a review of the Ford Raptor Supercrew, an excellent interview with defensive tactics instructor Richard Bustillo, and a Fixed Blade Buyers Guide. Add to that a heavily illustrated article on what to look for when buying a used 1911 pistol and a picture-heavy tutorial on Flashlight techniques with a Hand Gun. They toss in a custom range target in every issue (you read that right). It even has a coffee table book feel to it due to the heavy stock. All told this magazine is not your average bed side read.
To get a taste, here is a preview of the 1911 article. Recoil Magazine is available at Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, grocery stores, newsstands and other magazine retailers. It can also be home delivered and is available in a digital version.
